Job Summary
We are seeking a Research Associate to develop and implement pollinator inventory methods to collect scientifically valid data in support of natural resource management decisions at Colorado (COLM) and Dinosaur (DINO) National Monuments under a NPS Cooperative Agreement. The primary objective of this project is to collect data on the bees and butterflies present in COLM to inform invasive plant management activities in relation to pollinator conservation, and in DINO to inform livestock grazing management. The candidate will use data collected in this project, from online resources, and a general literature review, to provide park-specific recommendations for pollinator-friendly vegetation management practices. The candidate will assist in hiring staff, coordination of monthly field research activities, supervision of field and lab assistants, the processing of biological samples, analysis of ecological data, and the writing of annual and final reports.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Coordinate project activities with National Park staff and PI
Oversee hiring, supervision, and mentoring of undergraduate researchers
Lead field and museum research activities
Compile literature reviews on relevant research
Analyze data and compile reports for the NPS and potential peer-reviewed papers
What You Should Know
Field work over the summer of 2024 and potentially spring of 2025 will include backcountry camping in remote field sites without cell service.
What We Can Offer
$70,000 per year and benefits, including medical, optional vision & dental, retirement, paid time off, tuition benefit and ECO Pass. Funding available for 1 year, with the option to explore additional funding.

What We Require
PhD in Ecology, Evolution, or Entomology
Strong background in field research
Experience organizing, leading, and conducting field research
What You Will Need
Backcountry experience, including orienteering and navigation
Ability to navigate and supervise others in traversing challenging terrain
Strong quantitative skills
Passion for management-driven research
What We Would Like You to Have
Postdoctoral experience
Experience in measuring plant-insect interactions
Knowledge of Colorado and Utah flora and fauna, specifically flowers, butterflies, and bees
Strong communication skills to engage with multiple audiences including the public

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
