Reliability Engineer

Position Summary As Scout's Reliability Engineer, you will leverage your engineering skillset to ensure that our renewable energy projects operate properly during their expected lifespan.
You will help to optimize fleet availability by utilizing real time SCADA data, historical asset performance, and your expertise in engineering solutions.
You will aid in root cause investigations of engineering issues and support conversations with suppliers, third party engineering companies, and both internal and external stakeholders.
Your engineering knowledge will assist you with implementing new technical projects and processes to shape fleet-wide initiatives.
After implementation you will validate the success of engineering projects.
You will review and vet damages and repairs and aid in determining cause and providing engineering solutions.
You will serve as a key member of our team:
Working with our service contractors to diagnose problems, create innovative solutions, assess solution efficacy, and then take over responsibility to execute and meet deadlines for completion.
Collaborating with our Operations team and their counterparts in the field to determine operational adjustments needed for specific turbines.
In the case of a technical malfunction, you will work with your counterparts on the OEM team to resolve technical issues.
You will define and clarify failures and identify solutions, leveraging the contract and other agreements to determine the best solution for Scout.
In addition, you will collaborate with the Operations team to mitigate the likelihood of similar issues happening again.
You will conduct failure analysis, identify issues, and improve availability and reliability.
The Reliability Engineer will report to the Head of Operations Engineering.
Qualifications We are looking for an engineer who gets excited by the technical aspects of renewable energy production.
Your significant experience working with wind turbines will be complemented by your business acumen.
Together, these skills will enable you to understand and use service agreements to prevent, mitigate, and resolve performance issues.
Work Experience and Skillset A bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with experience with electrical systems 1-2 years of engineering related to wind turbines with broad engineering skills in all relevant technology areas.
Familiarity with using condition-based monitoring, vibration analysis, and/or operational SCADA data to understand wind turbine reliability.
Strong communication, project management skills.
Previous involvement working with cross-functional internal and external technical advisors and stakeholders.
Foundational understanding of key value drivers for renewable power projects.
Able to climb wind turbines with or without a climb assist and capable of working at heights of up to 300 feet if needed.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Willing and available to travel as needed (20%-30%).
Not required but will strengthen your application:
Experience with GE 2X platform and/or Nordex is a plus.
Knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures, electrical testing equipment, and electrical troubleshooting Hybrids (mixed Wind/Solar/Storage), solar inverter, and/or high voltage experience is a plus Familiarity with rotating systems such as gearboxes, generators, motors, and other wind turbine components Experience with Weibulls or other statistical methods of analyzing failure and reliability Organizational Fit:
Ability to multi-task and arbitrate between conflicting priorities with clear target setting and follow-through capability in a fast-paced work environment.
Self-starter or internally motivated able to assess issues or holes in a process or assess needs of the organization and execute without significant oversight.
Demonstrated ability to work in a flat organization, successfully leveraging the expertise of multiple colleagues in different lines of reporting.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Timeline and Location We are targeting late September/ early October start dates but have some flexibility on the precise timing.
The ideal candidate will be able to work out of our Boulder office at least 3 days per week.

Compensation Target base salary:
$85,000-100,000.
Negotiable for the right candidate.
