STATEMENT OF DUTIES General Statement Of Duties:
Provides accurate and clear communication in English or the target (foreign) language for the courts and probation departments of the Colorado Judicial Department.
Members of this class are not required to have achieved the interpreter certification credential from the Colorado Judicial Department's Office of Language Access, and do not provide interpretation.
Distinguishing Factors:
Positions in this classification are distinguished from other classifications due to spending at least 50% of time providing bilingual communication in less complex matters for customers, court and probation staff.
May require occasional travel.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS This is a permanent, part-time position for.
10 FTE (equivalent to 4 hours/weekly).
The salary range for this position is $409.
30 - $566.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides bilingual communication in less complex matters for customers, court and probation staff.
Directly answers and assists in non-legal inquiries from the non-English speaking public regarding court matters, forms, dates, etc.
, either in person or by telephone.
Some positions may maintain data as to the number of bilingual contacts for statistical purposes or may perform file maintenance or clerical duties related to bilingual services.
Attends meetings and training as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for one's own work product and will rarely provide lead functions but may occasionally assist bilingual court staff or interns.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education:
Fluently bilingual, possessing a college level vocabulary in both languages and the ability to communicate complex information in both English and the target (foreign) language.
The individual's application and written responses to any subsequent interview questions will be reviewed in light of this requirement and fluency level may be subject to examination.
Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of paid experience working in a professional capacity with non-English speaking persons.
OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and 6 months of experience in a bilingual setting or working in a professional capacity with non-English speaking persons in a complex organization where assignments and clients vary.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk.
The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; reach with hands and arms; and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific speech requirements include ability to speak audibly, to hear and to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and high precarious places.
Occasionally handles emergency or crisis situations; frequently subject to interruptions, and multiple calls and inquiries.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Occasional work day and overnight travel may be required.
