NIGHT EDITOR The Longmont Times-Call is hiring a night editor. This is a salaried position with hours roughly 2:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 2 p.m. - 11 p.m. Saturday. Hours and days may be adjusted as work requires. Holiday hours will be required at least twice a year.
Skills Required:
This position requires a journalist with experience in reporting, writing, editing, page design and web posting. Social media expertise and the ability to adeptly correspond with readers and social media followers during evening hours are a must. The successful candidate must have a track record of meeting deadlines and must display solid judgment regarding local, regional and nation/word news. The night editor must display the ability to act decisively and calmly in stressful situations, to work well with others within the Times-Call office and to coordinate with editors and direct page designers at remote locations. The ability to clearly communicate and to problem solve are absolutely necessary. As a senior editor, this person must be able to take charge of situations and motivate others in the newsroom, and to lead by example. Much of the work done by the night editor is done in a solitary setting, so this person must be self-motivated and must be able to troubleshoot when tech problems arise and develop workarounds in coordination with others in remote locations. production is preferred. Job Responsibilities Include:

Direct live coverage of scheduled events and edit. Be able to work in solitary setting. This requires ability to trouble-shoot with others in remote locations when tech problems arise. Responsible for seeing that content for weekend advance pages is edited and sent to design desk Communication skills, problem solving and ability to work well with others is key.
