Interdisciplinary Physical Scientist/Physicist

In collaboration with PML Safety Program Coordinator, contribute to, review and implement safety procedures and tools; ensuring timely hazard reviews and inspections are conducted throughout PML facilities; ensure timely incident reporting and investigations; advance a NIST-wide safety culture by collaborating across organizational boundaries and engaging in cross-cutting committees and institute-wide safety activities; and provide leadership to division safety representatives and support to PML Division Chiefs and staff. Basic Requirements for Physical Scientist:
A. Degree:
physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. For Physical Scientist, ZP-1301-III
Qualifications:
In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must also have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 (ZP-II at NIST) level. Specialized Experience is defined as experience in a laboratory research environment and experience with designing and implementing safety programs. OR 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree as defined in the basic requirements OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree as defined in the basic requirements OR A combination of graduate education and specialized experience as defined in the additional requirements For Physical Scientist, ZP-1301-IV
Qualifications:

Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In either A or B above, the courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
