Information Technology Specialist, ZP-2210-III (GS-11/12 Equivalent) - TERM

Lead the information technology (IT) support of the Quantum Electromagnetics Division of NIST, including the NIST Boulder Microfabrication Facility. Provide basic end-user setup, support, and issue-resolution assistance for computing hardware, other IT equipment, IT networking, and software. Educate and assist staff in maintaining servers and personal computer hardware and software at optimized performance levels. Analyze, review and resolve critical security vulnerabilities of IT assets, in partnership with NIST staff. Educate and assist division members in their responsibility for IT asset security. Assist property manager with tracking and documentation of the IT equipment inventory. Contribute to development of web-based presentation of Division's scientific highlights. Basic Requirements:

All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions Undergraduate or Graduate Education:
Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Experience:
In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalents to at least the GS-9 level (ZP-II at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as
Experience:
providing information technology (IT) support; information security software support; vulnerability resolution; leading in and assisting personnel in maintenance and repair of IT servers, personal computer hardware and software; providing support to Microsoft products (including Windows versions and Office suite); and webpage development. OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
